TRU Start

TRU Start allows high school students to take university-level courses while earning both high school and post-secondary credits at the same time. This program provides a head start on university education, offering students the chance to experience university-level academics and earn credits that count toward both their high school diploma and future degree, or lead to a complete credential before high school graduation.

Why should you consider Dual Credit?

  • Save Money: Your tuition is covered by your school district!
  • Grow Confidence: Lighten your course load during first year and feel confident and prepared to take on post secondary education!
  • Boost Employability: Participating in TRU Start Programs and Youth Train in Trades enhances your job prospects immediately after high school graduation.
  • Get Ahead: TRU Start Courses are typically transferable to other post secondary institutions or will count toward your future TRU credential.
  • Experience University Life: Gain exposure to the expectations and independence of university courses.

Who Can Enrol?

Dual Credit is typically available to grade 12 students who meet academic requirements. TRU has dual credit agreements with a number of school districts. Check with your Trades and Transitions Coordinator for more details on eligibility and the application process.

Dual Credit is a great way to challenge yourself, explore your academic interests, and get a jumpstart on your university journey!
